Using Adhesion Agents

The various uses of adhesion agents

There are 2 types of applications: incorporation of the adhesion agent into the binder mass, and treatment at the interface.

In the case of incorporation in the mass, the adhesion agent must be mixed properly with the binder, either for storage or directly into the spreading machine.

The following main techniques call upon adhesion agents: surface dressing with pure bitumen or fluxed bitumen and hot mix. In all cases, the dosage of adhesion agent ranges from 2 to 5 kg per tonne of binder.

In the case of interface treatment, this involves spraying aqueous dispersions of self-disperse adhesion agent in water. This requires specific equipment.

The technique using interface adhesion agents concerns surface dressing for both hot and cold applications.

Dosage of the adhesion agent is of the order of 2 to 3 g per m2 of surface in all cases.
