Heed the criteria laid down by the emulsion plant for manufacturing the mix: for example opt for a liquid emulsifier as the plant has no bitumen heater, while in terms of acid, HCl is normally used.
Based on the reactivity of the materials and the bitumen available at the emulsion plant, laboratory tests will determine the choice of CECA emulsifier and its dosage, generally ranging from 2 to 3.5 kg per tonne of emulsion, as well as the acid dosage for an emulsion pH of 2 to 3 depending on the aggregate type.
Typical formulation for one tonne of C65BF4 type emulsion:
BITUMEN 70/100 : 565 kg
FLUX : 85 kg
DINORAM ® S : 3 kg
HCl (d=1.16 at 32%) : ~ 3 kg for aqueous phase pH = 2.0
WATER up to 1000 kg
